Planning your trip!
You know we love travelling, and we want you to plan an unforgettable holiday before or after our wedding. You will be close to the regions of Abruzzo and Marche and, in addition to the beaches, you can enjoy everything the region has to offer.
How to arrive
Neighbouring airports are Pescara (in Abruzzo) and Ancona (in Marche), which can be options for internal flights or direct flights from London, for example. The easiest way from Brazil with a direct flight from São Paulo would be Rome + 2.5 hours by car. Another option is coming by train from Milan (less than 4 hours with Trenitalia). Regardless of the transportation, renting a car is essential if you want to explore the region.

Where to stay
We bookmarked the Naxos hotel which is one of the hotels we recommend. Antonio learned how to make the perfect cappuccino there! It's a family-run hotel, and very close to Antonio's parents (where we'll be staying the week before the wedding) and the beach! We go to the beach in Villa Rosa, the wedding is in Ripatransone, the cities of Grottammare and Tortoreto have the most beautiful “upper” cities in the region – Grottammare Alta and Tortoreto Alto.
San Benedetto del Tronto and Giulianova are bigger and bustling towns! We'll be there and we'll do something together, which involves relaxing, enjoying the beach, eating GOOD fish, riding a bike... these are essential vacations that we do every year, and we always end up recharged (and craving for more!).
We highlighted two more hotels in San Benedetto Del Tronto recommended by friends in the region. These are even better located and closer to the wedding venue: Hotel Marconi and Smeraldo Suites & Spa.
Abruzzo e Marche

It took us a long time to choose the place to celebrate our wedding, and we went up a little, on the border between Abruzzo and Marche, to find the landscape we like so much (perfect mix of sea, hills, and mountains), which is quite characteristic of these two regions. Abruzzo is simply spectacular! Practically half of the region is protected through national parks and nature reserves, making it the “greenest region in Europe”. Everyone who knows Antonio knows how passionate he is about the region he was born in, so we hope you get to know a little bit about it too!

Beach: Obviously! If you like the Italian organization, with the umbrellas lined up, there's a huge coast for you to enjoy! If not, we also have free beaches and more natural beaches: Punta Aderci, San Vito Chietino, the Trabocchi (fisher’s houses adapted to be small sea-rustic restaurants), Punta Cavalluccio; Pineto with its Torre di Cerrano; Spiaggia delle Due Sorelle at Riviera del Conero (there is a trail to get there, so not sure it is the place to go with infants).

Borghi: one-day trip to a small Borgo is a must! Be aware that these small towns have very few (but very good!) places to eat, so we suggest to always book beforehand, especially during summer.
-
Castrovalva (that inspired one of the most famous Escher’s paintings) - Anversa degli Abruzzi - Villalago (Eremo di San Domenico and Lago di Scanno) is a one-day trip example;
-
Castelli, very famous for its ceramic artwork;
-
Castel Trosino (there is only one restaurant in the only square of the town, so book beforehand!);
-
the religious cities of Loreto (Marche) and San Gabriele (Abruzzo); the castle of Rocca Calascio; Santo Stefano di Sessanio.

Countryside/Mountains: Parco Nazionale del Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga (where they shoot some of Antonio’s favourite movies “…continuavano a chiamarlo Trinità” and “Così è la vita”), a river bath on the trips of Gole del Salinello, or the Castellano river near Cartiera Papale in Ascoli Piceno; a bike hike from Chiesa Romanica of Santa Maria a Vico to the hills nearby; or a bike hike along the Tirino River, starting from Bussi sul Tirino.

Wine tours: who is experts in wine already knows: Abruzzo wines are incredible, and we have a FANTASTIC producer in the region, called Emidio Pepe. They can host you there, or just host you for a tour, with great options to taste the wonderful wines, especially Montepulciano and Trebbiano.

Eating!
Some restaurant recommendations (book beforehand because it is high season!):
-
Alba Adriatica: Wolf (it has all kinds of food, and it's all very good!)
-
Giulianova Molo Nord: Punto Ristoro del Porto
-
Tortoreto Alto: Mobast (arrosticini – typical of Abruzzo – with a view!)
-
Grottammare Alta: Ristorante Pizzeria Papa Sisto (great pizza with a view!)
-
San Benedetto del Tronto: Nudo e Crudo, Palmino (for delicious fish!)
-
Porto d’Ascoli: Posto Nuovo (delicate and creative!)
